A Fisherman’s Story: Moving To Northern Australia

6

I’ve been a fisherman for as long as I can remember. My grandfather showed me the ropes – how to cast a line, which bait to use for trout and the best way to skin and gut your catch. He took me out on my first fishing charter, and I have fond memories of spending my weekends out in the ocean, reeling in the night’s dinner (or more often than not, the appetiser). Saltwater runs in my blood, so for my twilight years I decided I wanted to move closer to my true passion.

Growing up in Victoria was wonderful, and there were plenty of excellent fishing spots for me to choose from, but I always longed for the warm climates and exotic sea life of tropical north Queensland. I’ve taken dozens of holidays up to Cairns and beyond over the years, and those trips only confirmed my desire to one day retire there and spend my days doing what I do best – fishing. At long last, I bit the bullet and made my decision – I was going to move to Cairns for good.

It was a big move! I was leaving a lot of friends and family behind, but I knew it was the right decision for me. And because I’d never moved interstate before (and let’s face it, I’m not getting any younger), I knew I needed a professional relocation company to make the move as seamless as possible. The thought of lugging all of my furniture and a life’s worth of belonging over state lines was daunting, but that’s where Santa Fe Wridgways came in.

My collection of fishing rods obviously had to come with me, many of which are delicate and highly valuable. I didn’t want to attempt to transport these myself in case I damaged them, but luckily the interstate removalists had the right equipment for the job, and packed and transported them safely and securely. My beloved tugboat needed to make the journey with me also – and I definitely wasn’t going to hook that to my trailer and drive from one end of Australia to another! So the removal team transported my prized possession with an appropriate truck for me. No headaches on my end – and definitely no back aches!

I did initially consider attempting to move my belongings on my own, and in hindsight I’m so glad I didn’t. Having a team of professionals like Santa Fe Wridgways made my big interstate move a breeze, and meant I could focus more on what I really wanted to achieve on my journey. My belongings arrived safely and undamaged, I saved a lot of strain on my physical health and in the long-term, I even saved money. I can’t recommend hiring a relocation company highly enough for your very own sea change!
